Scientists from Ataturk University use gene editing to increase the growth of rainbow trout. Injecting two guide RNAs targeting the first exon of the myostatin gene mstnb1 into fertilized rainbow trout eggs, the team was able to increase the trouts’ body weight by 56%. The results suggest that CRISPR–Cas9 could help shorten production time and improve production efficiency in aquaculture.
Seoul-based pharma DuChemBio will build Korea’s first plant dedicated to radiopharmaceuticals after agreeing to a $25.5 million contract with North Jeolla Province and the city of Jeongeup. The facility will combine radioisotope production, drug manufacturing and export. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2027, targeting a 2029 opening.
